Over 50s and their future

In the spring of 2015, we carried out a survey amongst Plus Magazine readers. 2 surveys were launched at different times. The first part concentrated on ‘The over 50s and work’, in which 3918 people participated. In the second part the focus was on ‘The over 50s and their private lives’, here there were 3348 participants.

What motivates the over 50s to continue working until they are 67?
What will they miss when they stop working?
Are the over 50s anxious that they will not be able to make ends meet in their old age?
What factors are important for a pleasant old age?

Working until you are 67 is not that obvious, but as many as 1 in 2 people feels that it is actually not possible. Good health, an attractive pension bonus and less stress would however, motivate them to continue until the age of 67. The worry of not being able to make ends meet in their old age is a major concern for 1 out of 2 people.
